Bates junior Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan continued to prove that she is one of the top throwers in New England at any division level, as well as one of the top throwers in all of Division III last weekend at the Open New England Indoor Championships at Boston University.

A year ago, Bates College senior Keelin Godsey set the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships record in the women's hammer throw, at 195 feet and 4 inches. On Friday at Benedictine University, Godsey's hammer traveled far beyond that mark all day long, en route to winning a second straight NCAA championship in his best event.

Kelly Godsey (Parker, Colo.) was a one-Bobcat show at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, as her first-place finish in the hammer throw and second-place finishes in the shot put and discus tallied all 26 of Bates' points, giving the Bobcat team eighth place at the meet, hosted by Wartburg College.
