Bill received his B.S in Wildlife Management with a Minor in Fisheries Biology from the University of Maine at Orono. After graduation he served in the US Peace Corps in The Philippines as an Aquaculture Specialist. He received his M.A. from The University of Delaware completing his thesis on Aquifers and Groundwater Resources in Delaware.

He applied his interest in the natural world for 34 years as a classroom teacher in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics at St. Andrew’s School in Delaware and Hebron Academy in Maine. Since arriving at Bates in 2012-2013, he has served as a Lecturer offering courses that engage Bates students how to effectively teach sciences in the classroom,
lab, and through experiential learning at Bates Morse Mountain Conservation Area on the Maine Coast in Phippsburg. “Convincing my Bates students that their job as prospective science teachers is critically important in creating citizens who understand science and the future of society.”

Bill lives in Minot with his wife Donna. They have two daughters Lyndsay (Bates ’14) and Selena (Northeastern ’17).
