A new LibrarySearch is coming

LibrarySearch, Bates’ tool for finding our books, articles, and other materials, is getting a fresh look this August.

Want a sneak peek? The new version is available to try right now.

What You Need to Know

There is no action required on your part.

  • All of your saved records will transfer over automatically.
  • All old links will automatically redirect to the new URL.
  • While the interface has a fresh look, all legacy LibrarySearch features are still there—plus a few upgrades.

What’s New

  • One consolidated list of loans: Previously, your loans from Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby (CBB) were split into separate lists. Now, you can see all of your CBB loans combined in one convenient view in My Account.
  • Streamlined requesting: All requests—whether from Bates, the CBB network, MaineCat, or interlibrary loan (ILL)—are now located under a single Request Options section for each item.
  • “Available on Shelf” filter: Need a book right now? You can now instantly filter out items that are already checked out, showing you only what is currently ready to grab off the shelf or request for pick up.
  • New location for “Repeat Search In”: The tool that sends your search to MaineCat, WorldCat, or Google Scholar is now located to the right of the search bar, instead of with the filters on the left. This means it will always be visible, even if your initial search returns zero results.

We Want Your Feedback!
