Noonday Concert Series resumes

As the fall semester commences, Bates will resume its Noonday Concert Series with weekly performances by faculty and students.

The free concerts, open to the public, will be held on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, located on Russell Street.

Pianist Frank Glazer will perform works by Haydn and Chopin on Sept. 10. Artist in residence and lecturer in music at Bates since 1980, Glazer previously served on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester for 15 years.

On Sept. 17, the Lygonia Consort, a baroque ensemble of harpsichord, recorder and bassoon, will perform. The group, whose musicians play instruments that are careful replicas of the best period originals, is composed of members John Martin Byrne, Charles Kaufmann and John Corrie.
