Hob Brooks is currently a Chief Growth Officer with Ascend, an Alpine Investors backed platform on a mission to transform the accounting industry in the USA. In his role, Brooks has P&L responsibility for his region, driving rapid growth via both organic and inorganic initiatives. Brooks’ experience working with private equity backed clients during his tenure at Boston Consulting Group provides a breadth of experience and expertise to accelerate growth and transformation initiatives at Ascend.
Prior to Ascend, Brooks founded Elevation Roofing LLC, a residential roofing company focused on providing a truly exceptional experience for the discerning homeowner on Philadelphia’s Main Line. However, for the majority of his professional career, Brooks was a management consultant and served as managing director and partner with the Boston Consulting Group, where he had been for nearly a decade, focused primarily on transaction and transformation engagements in the healthcare sector. Prior to BCG, Brooks was senior director of business development at Wolters Kluwer Health, where he focused on identifying and negotiating key strategic partnerships for the business and assisted in pipeline creation for corporate development opportunities. Earlier in his career Brooks worked in sales and sales management roles with SAGE Publications and Thomson Reuters.
At Bates, Brooks was a history major and co-captain of the men’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Immediately after his graduation from Bates, Brooks worked in Admission as a counselor and served as an assistant coach for the track teams. He went on to earn a master’s in education from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Brooks has been a member of the Alumni Council, worked as an Admission volunteer, and has been actively involved in Purposeful Work, both as a speaker and a mentor for students who are considering consulting as a career.
Brooks served on the board of trustees of the Philadelphia Ballet from 2019 to 2024.
Brooks lives in Wayne, PA with his three children, Arden, Harrison, and Kai. His father, Robert A. Brooks, is a member of the class of 1975.
