3D Printing

The VizLab maintains several models of 3D printers:

-Bambu Lab X1E

-Flashforge Guider II and Guider IIS

-Formlabs Form 3+ (SLA printer)

We are capable of printing with materials such as PLA, ABS, PETG, nylon, elastic, metal, wood, and various resin materials on our SLA printer.

Laser Cutting

The Glowforge Pro is a 3D laser printer, meaning it can cut, score, and engrave various materials, including wood and acrylic. It is run through a web-based app, which we maintain access to. It can be used by faculty and students for academic use. We have a library of various Proofgrade materials from Glowforge for open use; for larger/long term projects, we may request that you provide your own materials.

Miscellaneous

The VizLab also has a Cricut, a small machine perfect for cutting vinyl and experimenting with other thin materials.

Bates College installs Garry W. Jenkins as ninth president

Installed as the ninth president in Bates College history on Saturday, Garry W. Jenkins used his inaugural address to offer four cornerstones to guide the work of the college. Keeping the college strong and vibrant benefits not only Bates students but U.S. democracy, he said. “They rise together.”
