Engineer George Bugliarello to discuss science, technology and society

An engineer will discuss science, technology and society at Bates College at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 in Room 204 of Carnegie Science Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

George Bugliarello, chancellor and former president (1973-94) of Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, N.Y., will deliver a lecture, Machines, Biology and Society.

An engineer and educator whose background ranges from biomedical engineering to fluid mechanics, computer languages and socio-technology. Bugliarello is a founding fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Bugliarello is a member and former president (1992-93) of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society. The society’s southern Maine chapter is sponsoring the lecture.
