Should you go with your head or your heart?

Clinical psychologist Jon Adler ’00 talks to Elle magazine for an article about how stress interferes with our decision-making abilities. Adler has found that when people write about times they’ve worked through difficult experiences, they begin to think more expansively. So, suggests Adler, why not write a story in which you envision yourself moving through certain challenges, more “in the driver’s seat of your life.” Adler, who earned a Ph.D. at Northwestern, is a new assistant professor of psychology at the F.W.
