Spelt Right Bakery offers new hope

New England Cable News reports that Spelt Right Bakery, founded and run by Beth George ’85 and Tim Kane ’82 in Yarmouth, Maine, “celebrated a big victory” as their bagels and breads are now sold throughout New England and eastern New York in 88 Hannaford stores and other locations. The bakery is notable for using spelt instead of wheat, an approach George first used at home for her young son. He had physical and emotional troubles, and removing wheat and artificial colors and preservatives from his diet made a huge difference.
