The New York Daily News talks to recent graduates of the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice (with whom Bates has recruitment partnership). The story notes that the school has a “maniacal dedication” to setting students on the path to an undergraduate degree. One college-bound grad is Nadine Beaupierre, now a first-year student at Bates, and the story describes how Beaupierre juggled schoolwork in high school and cared for two younger brothers, one of whom is developmentally disabled, while her mother worked as a home healthcare aide.
