Reference and Outreach Archivist
As reference archivist, Caitlin supervises the day-to-day activity of the reading room, and is the first point-of-contact for all incoming reference requests. She also takes a prominent position in the department’s outreach efforts to faculty and staff, including bringing collections material “out from the archives” and into the classroom. The college archivist works to arrange, describe, and make available the permanent records of the college. The archivist also works with the director to ensure that permanent records of the college are transferred to the archives in a timely and efficient manner. If you work at Bates and have materials you would like to transfer to the Archives, please contact the Archivist. [Contact the Director at present.] The Archivist also oversees college publications if you have such items you would like to donate.
Pat supervises the department’s work, and oversees the rare books and manuscript collections, which includes the Muskie papers. Please contact him about donating books or personal papers as well as any administrative/policy questions. Pat also works with college staff to discuss records issues, such as storage, transfers, and retention and disposition questions.
