Cole Taylor (he/him) is the Associate Director of Residence Life at Bates College. He joined Bates in 2023. In his role, Cole supports the residential experience at Bates and provides leadership for the Office of Residence Life’s professional and student staff teams.
Cole’s expertise and professional interests center on residential life, student staff development, community building, student support, and creating inclusive residential environments. His passion for Residence Life began with his own experience as a Resident Assistant during his undergraduate years, where he developed an appreciation for the ways residential communities can foster connection, leadership development, self-exploration, and belonging. Prior to joining Bates, Cole held Residence Life positions at Bentley University and the University of New England.
Cole collaborates across campus on areas including First-Year Experience, Community Standards, Student Support Advising, student programming, residential education, and student staff development. He is particularly interested in how these areas intersect to support student belonging, engagement, and success. Colleagues can connect with Cole around residential community development, student staff training and supervision, inclusive practices, student support, and collaborative approaches to the student experience.
