Faculty responses and comparisons with other colleges

The response rate for Bates faculty was 67 percent. This is lower than that achieved in previous library and technology surveys (76 percent in 2012 MISO), and higher than the average response rate in the comparison group (56 percent). Here is what we learned about how their answers compared to those of other colleges:

1. Bates faculty rate virtually all ILS services as important as the average faculty in the comparison group. Areas of slightly higher importance include :
  • Lyceum
  • Help Desk
  • Library support for students’ scholarly research
  • Garnet Gateway
  • Library Databases
  • Access to online resources from off campus
2. Bates faculty are equally satisfied as the average of the comparison group with almost all services ILS provides. All of these scores were within one standard deviation.
