Goose Cove Orchestra opens Bates Contradance Series

The Bates College Freewill Folk Society opens the 1997-98 Contradance Series with The Goose Cove Orchestra and caller Greg More at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in Chase Hall Lounge, 56 Campus Ave. General admission is $4 and $2 for students and seniors. Soft-soled shoes are recommended.

The Ellsworth-based Goose Cove Orchestra is composed of Margot Bridgett on piano and accordion, Malcolm Sanders on fiddle, Bev Blaisdell on piano and caller Greg More who also plays guitar and percussion.

Contradancing, featuring the traditional music of New England’s immigrants who hailed from the British Isles and France, is social dancing and requires no fixed partner.
