Video: First-year Bobcats get up to speed on the fast pace of Bates and NESCAC

If past statistics are future predictors, about 40 percent of the 499-member Class of 2020 will compete on a Bobcat varsity team.

A few of these new Bobcats share how they’re getting used to the fast pace of Bates life, both in the classroom and on the field in NESCAC, perhaps the most competitive NCAA Division III conference. And, their coaches share the advice they’ve given their first-years and what they believe makes Bates and Maine so special.

With nerves jangling on the verge of their Bates debuts, Riley Turcotte ’20 of Middletown, R.I., shared a common thought among these rookie Bobcats: “Don’t mess up!”
