Regional events, resources for breaks, and more

Hello, Bates families –

Cooler temperatures have settled in here on campus, and we wanted to share some resources to help you and your students navigate the next few months.

  • With both Thanksgiving Recess and Winter Break approaching, the Residential Calendar is a helpful resource that shows when residences are open and how breaks affect the board plan. (If your student is among the very small number who are eligible to remain on campus over winter break, please remind them to follow this process to apply.)
  • There are several upcoming regional events for parents/guardians in New York, Maine, and more. We also encourage you to check out the Bobcat Reads virtual Bates book group, which is open to both parents and alumni.
  • If you have a student returning to Bates next semester from study abroad, or if your student currently has an open bed in their housing, please be aware that Winter Housing Placement is underway. Students are receiving frequent notices about the process and deadlines, so please remind them to be in touch with Residence Life with questions.

Finally, we hope you are following Bates on Instagram for plenty of sights from campus, and we highly recommend the archive of concert recordings so you can hear the sounds of campus as well.

Best from campus,
The Bates Parent Team
