Disciplinary Resolution Process
Cases of misconduct that are not resolved by Restorative Practices Resolution and are more serious than can be resolved by a Misconduct Resolution Meeting resolved using the Disciplinary Resolution Process. Major cases of misconduct are usually resolved using this process. A major case of misconduct is any case in which a finding of responsibility could include a sanction of suspension or dismissal.
The Disciplinary Resolution process includes a fact-gathering investigation into the complaint, further inquiry and finding(s) by an assigned Decision Maker, and opportunities for appeal.
The goal of Disciplinary Resolution is to determine whether the Respondent is responsible for a violation of policy. If the Respondent is found responsible for a policy violation, disciplinary sanctions and/or remedial actions will also be determined.
The Disciplinary Resolution procedures are guided by the principles of fundamental fairness and respect for all Parties, which requires notice, an equitable opportunity to be heard, and an equitable opportunity to respond to a complaint under the Code of Student Conduct.
Below is an overview of what this resolution process entails:
