Dharma teacher concludes Spiritual Journeys series at Bates

Laura Cluff, Dharma teacher at the Kwan Um School of Zen and Buddhist community adviser at Wellesley College, will present “My Life, The Big Mistake: The Long Journey Out of Perfectionism” at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, in Skelton Lounge of Chase Hall on the Bates campus. The public is invited to attend the final talk of the Spiritual Journeys series free of charge.

Cluff explains the title of her presentation by saying, “A Zen Master once said, ‘Being born is already a mistake. How can you correct it?’ Zen practice is not to correct the mistaken self but to break through the limited notions of ‘myself’ that separate us from intimacy with each moment.”

Sponsored by the Office of the Chaplain at Bates, the Spiritual Journeys lecture series has featured speakers from a variety of traditions who told the stories of their spiritual awakening and development.
