Interviewed on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, Jamie Merisotis ’86, president and CEO of the Lumina Foundation for Education, responds to President Obama’s call for $12 billion in additional funding for U.S. community colleges. “I think it was incredibly important to the nation,” Merisotis says. “The president essentially laid down a marker saying we need to dramatically increase the number of Americans with college credentials because of the importance that a college degree has for our workforce development, for our civic development and for democracy in our nation.” (View Clip)
