Accessible Education

Greetings from the Office of Accessible Education

We are committed to ensuring full access to both academic and co-curricular programming college wide for students with disabilities.  We also serve as a resource to faculty and staff and work collaboratively with campus partners to remove barriers to access and implement solutions.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Resources for Remote Learning and Accessibility

Please know that all approved accommodations remain in effect, regardless of mode of instruction.  These are unfamiliar and uncertain times for all of us.  We are holding all members of the Bates community in our thoughts.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at or 207-786-6222.

Information for Faculty Regarding Remote Learning and Accessibility

  • Welcome incoming and newly-disclosing students! A reminder that the suggested deadline for requesting an academic accommodation for the Fall semester is August 1. Initiate the request process as early as possible so there is plenty of time to process your request before the semester starts.
  • Approved for text in alternate format? Send us your book list and proofs of purchase over the summer so you have the format you need before classes begin.
  • Need to schedule an exam? Just login to your AIM account. Directions and video tutorials can be found on the AIM portal page. Please remember that we require two business days advance notice.
