Admission Information Sessions and Campus Tours

Admitted students are welcome to visit campus. The Admission office is open Monday-Friday for all visitors. Register here for a regular campus tour and/or information session. Note that in April our campus may be quieter during the last two full weeks of the month, as Bates students finish final exams and enjoy a well-earned week of break before Short Term begins on Monday, May 4.

Fireside Chat with President Garry Jenkins

Join President Garry W. Jenkins and two current Bobcats, Kayleigh Flaherty ’26 and Will Wu ’26, on Saturday, April 4 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET, as they discuss what it means to be a Bates student. You’ll hear what makes our community special, as well as how you’ll be encouraged to excel academically and discover what inspires you. We’ll also discuss how Bates is innovating and moving forward to be a college for the coming times. This session will be moderated by Associate Dean of Admission & Director of Access, Tyra G. Crosbie. Come with your questions, and we’ll answer them in the Q&A portion!

Ask Me Anything: Virtual Q & A with Bates Admission

These virtual Ask Me Anything (AMA) events are opportunities for students and families to ask Bates Admission leaders questions about anything Bates. AMA Zoom events are scheduled for 8pm–9pm ET.

Join Darryl Uy, Director of Admission, and your fellow students admitted in the Class of 2030 for an exclusive virtual AMA designed to answer your questions about the Bates College experience. Family members and supporters are welcome as well. This is your chance to connect directly with leadership and discover why the Bobcat community is the perfect place for your next four years.

Ask the (College) Experts

Join us for this webinar series to hear from Bates educators in and out of the Office of Admission as they share insights, tips, and stories about the Bates experience before, during, and after college. All Ask the (College) Experts webinars are scheduled for 8pm–9pm ET

A Bates education is more than the wide array of classes at your fingertips. Bates also fosters a supportive community that will advise, mentor, and challenge you along the way. At Bates, we connect students with opportunities to explore and discover careers that infuse purpose, passion, and fulfillment. Join us for this opportunity to learn about the many ways our faculty, Center for Purposeful Work staff, and alumni come together to help students find a path for life after Bates that aligns who they are with what they do.

Are you excited about beginning a journey as a first-year student at Bates? Nervous? A little of both? Well, look no further! Join us and learn about the intentional ways we build community on campus, even before your first steps into a Bates classroom. Hear from Bates students who have been in your shoes and our amazing First-Year Experience team. We will dive into how you will be supported academically, socially, and personally throughout your first year and beyond.

Admitted Student Family and Supporter Virtual Panels

In addition to our Ask Me Anything (AMA) events, these events are opportunities for parents and student supporters to ask questions and learn about the Bates student experience. These events are scheduled for 8pm–9pm ET.

Admitted student parents, supporters, and family members are invited to join us for an opportunity to connect directly with families of current Bates students and staff from the Office of Parent Giving and Engagement during a virtual Zoom event. Come with questions and hear first-hand about the Bates student experience.

We know that the decision to attend college is rarely made in isolation, and that rightfully so, parents and other supporters are often involved. Congratulations on your achievement!

We invite the parents and supporters of admitted Bates students to join the Class of 2030 Facebook group, co-facilitated by the Bates Admission, Advancement, First-Year Experience, and Communications offices.

  • Contact current Bates students based on your academic and co-curricular interests.
  • Access the schedule of events for our in-person Bates Beginnings days.
  • Explore academic and extracurricular clubs and organizations.
  • Examine on-campus housing options.
  • See a (partial!) list of the wonderful things to do and places to eat in Lewiston/Auburn.

You will receive key information from the First-Year Experience team regarding your Bates email, on-campus housing, course placement and registration, pre-Orientation requirements, arrival day, and much more in the coming weeks and months.

In the meantime, this First-Year Experience and Orientation page will provide information about the Orientation program including AESOP, academics, and life on campus. Keep an eye on your inbox, and on the Class of 2030 Instagram!
