CMS Senior Capstone Standards
Students should review these general evaluative rubrics that pertain to all senior capstone projects. These rubrics have been modified from the Dartmouth College Classics Department FAQ on Honors in Classics.
PROCESS

- adhere to the work schedule as initially proposed or modified in consultation with the advisor?
- follow through on suggestions from the advisor?
- work independently?
- demonstrate initiative in shaping the project?
- continue to grow intellectually or creatively?
PRODUCT
Did the student
-
- demonstrate proficiency in research skills in the relevant discipline(s) (e.g., language skills, basic analytical methods, bibliographic tools) or in artistic, digital, or artisanal skills
- present a significant body of accurate information?
- engage fruitfully with current scholarship or materials on the topic?
- present a distinct point of view or unique product resulting from the student’s reasoning or creative process?
- argue persuasively for that view, making clear which facts and/or arguments support the thesis and which (if any) do not, if working on a research paper?
- present the material in an orderly, clear, and engaging form?
