Professor of Digital and Computational Studies Carrie Diaz Eaton received support from the Hewlett Foundation. Diaz Eaton leads the Institute for a Racially Just, Inclusive, and Open STEM Education (RIOS Institute). The Hewlett Foundation renewed their support for RIOS with a two-year, $1-million fund for general operating support.
Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry Dylan Joshua Freas received a Petroleum Research Fund grant-in-aid from the American Chemical Society. The award of $55,000 supports Freas’ proposed research project: “Synthetic Approaches Toward Hydrolytically Degradable Polyethylene Glycol and Poly(2-Oxazoline)s.”
Associate Director of Counseling & Psychological Services Allison Brown was named one of the 2026 Harriett Copher Haynes Leadership Mentoring Award winners. This award, given by the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors, comes specifically from the Inclusive Excellence and Equity Committee. The award celebrates and supports “talented mental health professionals who belong to an identity group that experiences systemic barriers.”
Emily Kane, professor of sociology, was awarded the Periclean Faculty Leader course grant. This program is generously funded by the Mellon Foundation, with additional support from the Eugene M. Lang Foundation. The Periclean Faculty Leader grants support enhancements to an existing course — in this case, “Sociology of Gender” — to “empower students to make positive change in their communities and help revitalize democracy.”
