Modern Dance Company to perform annual spring concert
The Bates Modern Dance Company, under the artistic guest direction of Lionel Popkin, presents its annual spring concert in a series of three performances March 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. and March 29 at 2 p.m. in Schaeffer Theatre. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $3 for seniors.
From personal journeys to relationships between siblings and parents, from simple gestures to full-bodied presentations, and to the accompaniment of masters such as Vivaldi and the futuristic beat of techno music, the annual spring concert will showcase the best work of students, faculty and guest choreographers including Popkin and Elizabeth Hansen, members of the Bates College dance faculty, and the New York-based master of hip-hop Doug Elkins.
Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the Schaeffer Theatre box office at 207-786-6161, Monday through Friday between 3 and 5 p.m. The box office will be open one hour prior to each of the performances.
