Multimedia: Homecoming 2011 offers something for everyone

Homecoming 2011 featured a wide range of activities and opportunities for good friends to get together, including:

  • a memorial tree-planting ceremony in honor of Dean Emeritus of the College James W. Carignan ’61
  • mini-reunions, including the men’s lacrosse program’s “Legends Game”
  • celebrations, including 50 years of men’s varsity soccer and Bates study abroad
  • a Bates Listening Tour visit to campus to hear multicultural and allies’ voices
  • multiple honors to Bates people, culminating with the Alumni Celebration Reception and Dinner that honored Alan L. Marden ’63 with the Community Service Award and Larry Handerhan ’05 with the Distinguished Young Alumni Award
  • football vs. Amherst, the day’s centerpiece
