Maria Gray is an incoming Thomas Hunter Fellow at the Hunter College MFA program in creative writing. She was recently named as a semifinalist for Nine Syllables Press’ annual chapbook contest. In 2024, she was featured as “Poet of the Week” on ONLY POEMS’ website.

Anna Mangum, previously the associate editor of a Maine-based magazine, Decor Maine, will attend the University of New Hampshire’s MFA program in fiction writing this fall.

Sommer Glasgow earned a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine from the University of Utah, and is now attending the University of Utah School of Medicine. She writes, “My exploration of narrative medicine and creative writing firmly grounded me in why I want to pursue medicine, and allowed me to envision the kind of physician that I want to be: one that grounds my practice in the story.”

Laurel Fiddler '17

Laurel Fiddler is earning a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and works with youth and their families. She writes: “Counseling theories are a big part of how therapists frame how they work with people, and I find myself drawn to many postmodern approaches that consider how culture and dominant narratives can cause suffering in people’s lives. I learned so much about this at Bates, so it has been really interesting to apply this knowledge to a different field.”

Ashley Moore has earned an MFA in fiction from the Michener Center for Writers, where she was a finalist for the Keene Prize for Literature. Her work has been published in Apogee Journal.
