External Funding

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is the authorized organizational representative for government (federal, state, local) grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. We also work with individual faculty members to assist in securing research and sponsored program support from colleges and universities, hospitals, foundations, corporations, and other private entities. ORSP provides a “full service” shop that supports faculty and staff in both pre- and post-award activities from idea generation through award closeout.

If you are applying for external funding, please talk to us first!

Pre-award Guidance: ORSP works with faculty and staff to develop a concept into a project, proposal development including budget generation and approval, and review and submission of proposals.

Post-award Guidance: ORSP will help you manage all aspects of your award, including award acceptance, monitoring spending, regulatory compliance, and reporting. Select for post-award guidance.

Compliance Resources: Stay compliant with funder requirements! External funding often comes with compliance requirements. Several offices and committees oversee compliance at Bates.
