Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu! Dan Doyle, founder and executive director of the Institute for International Sport at the Univ. of Rhode Island, was chosen by The Sporting News as one of 10 sports figures to watch in 2002. The magazine, which annually publishes a 100-person “most powerful” list, chose Doyle for a 10-person list of people who are “likely to make waves” this year. Doyle’s institute is well known for the World Scholar-Athlete Games, and he has a forthcoming book, The Encyclopedia of Sports Parenting (Warner)…. Kathleen Hurley Sevigny won the 2002 Dr. V. James DiNardo Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Bridgewater State College Alumni Association. The award is presented to a faculty member “who has demonstrated mastery of subject matter and an enthusiastic teaching style.”
