Supporting students, the community, and more

Bates families –

As we head into the weekend, we write to share the following resources:

Student support: Students are continuing to process recent events in different ways and on their own timelines. Please continue to direct your students to this outreach from the Dean of Students that outlines the many avenues for support, and remind students that BatesToday continues to list a variety of opportunities to be with others.

Hearing from you and your student: An important element of any emergency response is an after action review. Please encourage your students to complete the survey that was emailed to the on-campus community this morning, and remind them to watch for other feedback opportunities. Parents and guardians were emailed a survey specifically for families.

Supporting the community: For those who have asked how to thank our colleagues in Dining, Campus Safety, and Residence Life, please use this form to share your well wishes along with messages of support for the entire community. Here are additional ways to support our neighbors in Lewiston and those most deeply affected. Students are working to help our community – and one another – heal, and you can read about some of those efforts in this week’s BatesNews.

Finally, we know that many students are eagerly awaiting the upcoming November break, whether to travel to see family or to enjoy some downtime in Maine. College residences stay open over break, and while November break is not part of the meal plan, Commons does have limited service.

As always, please reach out to us at parents@bates.edu with any questions.

With best wishes,
The Bates Parent Team
