Restorative Practices Resolution Options

Bates College offers a number of options for utilizing restorative and voluntary methods for resolving a case of alleged misconduct. Based on the allegation and the needs of the college, community, and the parties involved, the Assistant Dean or Senior Associate Dean of Students may refer a case to be resolved using one of the restorative options described below. A Respondent or Complainant may also request that a case be resolved in this manner. All involved parties must confirm, in writing, that they agree to resolve the matter through the Restorative Practices Resolution pathway before proceeding.

Restorative Practices Resolution Options is an umbrella category that includes the following mechanisms for resolving a case of misconduct:

  • Restorative Resolution
  • Voluntary Agreement
  • Voluntary Withdrawal
