Portland Press Herald reports on 'Woman of Distinction' honor to Brenda Garrand '79

The Portland Press Herald reports that Brenda Garrand ’79, founder, president and strategic director of the Maine-based Garrand communications agency, is the Girl Scouts of Maine’s Woman of Distinction for 2009. “We selected Brenda…because we think she is an awe-inspiring leader and role model,” said Girl Scouts of Maine director of communications France Shea. “She’s a successful marketing expert and entrepreneur — a woman who takes the lead, values strength and keeps proving that she can do anything.” Earlier in the fall, Garrand’s firm was named Maine’s best place to work, in the small business category, at the Society for Human Resource Management’s Maine State Council’s awards dinner.
