About

COURTNEY SMITH (he/him) is a lighting, scenic, digital media designer, and production manager whose work spans many genres – including live theater, dance, tv, film, and corporate events. Courtney’s work has been seen in theaters from coast to coast and internationally including: (Off-Broadway) A.R.T./NY, Atlantic Theatre Stage 2, The Bushwick Starr, Roundabout Theatre Company, New York City Opera, Playwrights Horizons, Classic Stage Company, Cedar Lake Dance, Marvel Repertory Theatre; (International) Southwark Playhouse, UK (Regional) Maine State Music Theatre, ME; The Public Theatre, ME; Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, MT; Mount Baker Repertory Theatre, WA; Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, MT; Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, ID; Idaho Repertory Theatre, ID.

His designs have received several Meritorious Achievement Awards from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, most recently for his projection design in Everybody by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins at Bates College (March 2026). Some of Courtney’s notable projects include work for Victoria’s Secret, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and window display design & fabricator for Saks 5th Ave.

Courtney is a member of United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) and has an MFA in design & technology from the University of Idaho.
