Societies

Benjamin Bates Society recognizes the extraordinary philanthropy and personal commitment of Bates donors who have made the college a primary priority, and includes donors with $1 million or more in lifetime gifts to the college.
 
Mount David Society honors Bates Fund donors who put the college first in their annual philanthropy. These individuals lead the way in supporting Bates by making a gift of $1855 or more each year to celebrate the college’s founding year. These gifts that underpin the college’s ability to sustain excellence in everything that touches students.
 
Garcelon Society recognizes those who make contributions to the Androscoggin Scholarship Fund, which helps to benefit Bates students from the Lewiston/Auburn area.
 
Phillips Society celebrates those in the Bates community that have honored the college in their estate plans.
 
Cheney Society membership open to all those who have served on the Bates Board of Trustees to encourage their continued connection to the college and to benefit from their experience, talents, and wisdom.
 
Hathorn Society The Alumni Council decided to launch the new Hathorn Society in 2010 to celebrate the commitment former Alumni Council members.
