Health Center

The Health Center welcomes Bates College students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except on Saturdays and Sundays when it is closed from 7 am to 3 pm, when school is in session.

Bates College recognizes that physical and mental health significantly influence one’s ability to participate fully in the College community.  The Health Center strives to enhance each student’s well being by providing comprehensive, confidential health care and by encouraging informed, individual participation on health related decisions.


Avoiding Seasonal Flu

Light Therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorder

  1. During the months of November – March, a Sunbox Light, used for SAD light therapy, will be available for students to use on a first come first serve basis.  The light is located in the ground floor waiting room and is available to students for 30 minute sessions daily.
  1. Hours for the Sunbox Light are Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm and Weekends 3pm-5pm.  Using the light too late in the day or in the evening may make sleeping at night difficult.   Please check in at the front desk to be sure the light is not being used.
