Payment PoliciesAll student charges must be paid by the published due date each semester. A late payment fee of 1% of the outstanding balance is assessed each month to all accounts with balances of $300 or more. Those electing the TMS monthly payment plan are assessed a $25 late fee by TMS. Financial aid awarded by the College is deducted from the balance before any late fees are assessed, provided that all financial aid application materials and documentation have been submitted on time. Students who have not submitted all required financial aid documents by the April 15 deadline and have therefore not yet received an aid award are not exempt from late fee charges and may not delay payment. If a family has applied for an education loan, and the lender has not yet confirmed approval of the loan by the payment due date, the amount for which the family applied will be memoed on the bill and will not be deducted from the amount due or exempt from the late fee charge except for at the start of the semester when the delay may be due to our processing time restraints. Scholarships from outside sources are not deducted from the balance due when assessing late fees if the scholarship amount has not yet been received by Bates by the due date. Payment on the full amount due must be made to Bates and when the scholarship check arrives, a credit for that amount will be posted to the account. |
