Class of 1954
Edited by Christine Terp Madsen '73

Class Secretary: Jonas Klein, PO Box 456, Georgetown, ME 04548, lojo@gwi.net

Class President: Neil A. Toner, 17 Mast Rd., Scarborough, ME 04074-8782, cat3sat@aol.com

Next Reunion in 2004. Got news? Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu! From her cabin in the woods, Audrey Bardos Allen writes that she and Craig ’55 "landscape by nature - with our old oak trees setting the theme." She continues to tutor students with learning differences at home. Son Laird ’83 and family live in Thailand where he teaches at Mahidol Univ. International College. Audrey and Craig enjoy their summer visits with Ann Chick at her house in Lovell, Maine.... Rouben Cholakian sadly reports that his wife Patricia Francis ’55 is gravely ill. They do take some comfort in knowing that she will "conclude her exceptional scholarly career" with the publication of their joint biography of Marguerite de Navarre (1492-1549), poet, dramatist, reformer, and sister to Francis I of France.... The highlight of the summer for Bill Cummings was hosting a Latina basketball team from Los Angeles. The group was one of 368 teams meeting in the San Diego Classic, a girls tournament. Bill still enjoys gardening and woodworking, and now serves as an advisor to two graduate students in fisheries biology.... The always busy Art LeBlanc and Angela returned from Campobello Island where she "plugged" Jonas Klein’s book, Beloved Island. The LeBlancs officially retired with the sale of their popular restaurant, Seascapes, in April.... Traveling as much as ever are Dick and Barbara Meader Roof. They’ve been to Elderhostels in Hawaii, San Antonio, and Switzerland. Barbara faces back surgery to improve a spinal stenosis condition.
