Susan Detwiler has finished her master’s in education at Bank Street College of Education in New York City. She and husband Chris Pastore are preparing to move to Prague, where she will teach fifth grade at an American International School…. Product developer for the internationally known Maine retailer L.L. Bean, Chris Gailey spoke to Channel 6, the Portland NBC affiliate, about new devices to make camping more convenient and comfortable. Chris described items that ranged from innovations, such as an LED flashlight and a subscription online trail service, to new adaptations of the tried-and-true — for example, a radio and a blender both powered by hand crank. “The companies have done a pretty good job of bringing new products on,” he said. “Really, you can bring the comforts of home camping.”… Artist Kate Gilmore’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times and Village Voice over the last two years, and she has shown at the Brooklyn and Bronx museums, among others. At the Bronx Museum of the Arts, her video was described by the Times as “most enjoyable,” the reviewer describing how the artist, in the video, “appears to be trying to bring order to extremely messy situations. Dressed sensibly in black like an office temp worker, she stacks papers, envelopes and other clerical detritus into shaky towers that keep falling over. It’s mildly funny, but the artist’s earnest persistence is oddly moving as well.”… Jack Martilotta put his master’s in education on hold when he was deployed to Iraq. His unit provides security and support for battalion convoys and personnel. He expects to be home by March…. Elizabeth Mason works as a personal trainer and fitness instructor in Wellesley, Mass…. Flip over the next greeting card you get to see if Kate Saliba and Deb Lavoie designed it. They own and operate Smudge Ink, www.smudgeink.com, a custom printing company on Beacon Hill in Boston. They design high-end wedding invitations, baby announcements, stationery, and greeting cards. They’ve shown their designs at a national stationery show in New York. … Kiersten Scarpati is the director of marketing for the Portland (Maine) Pirates, the AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals…. Yona Segal is living in Oakland, Calif., with friends and teaching first through third grade at a Montessori school… Nadia White returned to Boulder, Colo., in mid-August to study wildlife management and virology on an environmental reporting fellowship.
