Professor Harder specializes in Statistics.

Melinda received a B.A. degree in mathematics from Dartmouth College, and then worked for a few years in biochemical and genetic research labs. She did graduate work in statistics, receiving an M.S. degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.

Her area of research is survival analysis which has applications in numerous fields including my favorite, medicine. Melinda often taught probability and statistics, and advised thesis students with topics in these areas. Her favorite activities are tennis, skiing and hiking.
