Some landmark dates from before you start at Bates, through your senior year.

Before You Start at Bates

First Year

  • This, or sophomore year, is the ideal time for Math Camp (MATH 221)

Sophomore Year

  • February 1 (if studying abroad as a junior): have your major declared, major advisor selected, and study abroad plan approved by math department chair
  • March 1 (if not studying abroad as a junior): have your major declared and major advisor selected
  • This, or your first year, is the ideal time for Math Camp (MATH 221)

Junior Year

  • If you are going abroad, stay in touch with your major advisor
  • Last day of Winter Semester classes: your proposal for thesis or seminar is due

Senior Year

  • Write your thesis or take your senior seminar
