Resources for supporting your student

Hello, Bates families –

One of the most important roles Bates parents play is in guiding students to the many resources available to them. To support you in that effort, we share the following:

  • Students, faculty, and staff received an update today about campus safety. Please encourage your student to read this information carefully. Senior staff also discussed this important topic during the Q&A on Oct. 5 as part of Back to Bates: Family Weekend.
  • Please remind your student about the robust tools available via the new Student Advising Portal, including their Student Support Advisor, specific academic resources for each class year, and dates for winter semester course registration.
  • There are many resources open to students to support their sense of connection and belonging at Bates. If your student isn’t sure where to start, encourage them to explore club activities and the many chem-free Campus Life offerings; group meetings through CAPS; or one of the regular programs available through the Multifaith Chaplaincy, which serves agnostic and spiritually searching students as well as those from faith backgrounds.

Best from campus,
The Bates Parent Team
