HCCP: Communications & Outreach Assistant (S99736)

Summary

The Communications and Outreach Assistant will support the Harward Center’s work to increase student engagement in Center programs. One focus of the Assistant’s job will be Community Pulse, the college’s volunteer platform.  The assistant will help ensure that students and campus partners are fully aware of the platform by doing weekly promotional campaigns throughout campus. This individual will also gather student and campus partner feedback about the platform, and communicate recurring questions, challenges, and concerns to Harward Center Staff.

Responsibilities

The Assistant will also support marketing and promotion of community-engaged learning and volunteer opportunities over social media.  Responsibilities include developing 1-2 posts and 1-2 stories each week, and capturing photos at HCCP events on campus or in the community.

Requirements

  • Experience with mainstream social media and digital platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WordPress. Experience in social media marketing preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be able and willing to work with a diverse group of students and staff.
  • Must be able to respond to communications in a timely manner.
  • Should have a strong ability to multitask and engage in time management.
  • Previous experience engaging in the Lewiston Auburn community is preferred.

Reporting

Reports to: 

Associate Director of Volunteer Programs and Community Partnerships and also Associate Director of Democratic Engagement & Student Activism, Harward Center for Community Partnerships.

Coordinates/works closely with: 

All programs and staff within the Harward Center for Community Partnerships as well as community, staff, and faculty partners.

Working Conditions

161 Wood Street (bright, sunny, open office building); Travel within L-A likely to attend Harward Center programming and community events.

Some hours expected in the office (161 Wood Street), and some hours on campus and at community events.

Physical requirements: Must be able to use a computer, phone, and camera; travel into the community, interact with small and large crowds.
