ADV: Digital Engagement Intern (S99903)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Advancement Digital Engagement Intern assists with a wide variety of communication and digital marketing related projects for the Advancement team, with particular concentration on curating digital content, as well as creating and editing video and photography for the purpose of enhancing social media presence and engagement (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter). The ultimate result is to help alumni feel more connected to Bates by drawing a link between how their own Bates experience has been impactful to their life and career since Bates.

The Digital Engagement Intern must be able to assimilate ideas into a creative digital media product (primarily video and photography) that meets the expressed desired outcome. The candidate will work on a per-project basis for larger projects, such as interviews and start-to-finish digital event recordings. Additionally, the candidate will work on a weekly basis helping to curate authentic video and photography of on-campus activities for use primarily on social media. Creativity, videography, photography, editing, communication skills and attention to detail are required. They must also possess practical and working knowledge of social media and be enthusiastic about Bates College.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
-The Digital Engagement Intern must uphold media and communications guidelines for Bates College.
-Help create video project(s) that may at times be polished or more authentic/candid depending on the audience and need.
-Record and edit campus events to share live and/or through various digital channels.
-Help curate weekly content (video, photography and stories) for the alumni social media post calendar: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube.
-Other tasks and projects as needed
-The Digital Engagement Intern must maintain clear and reliable communication with project leaders with regard to design specifications, progress, and deadlines.

Requirements


REQUIRED: EXPERIENCE: The applicant must have demonstrated experience and competency with videography, photography, editing software and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. DESIRED: EDUCATION: Videography, photography, marketing, and/or online media. Rhetoric, Film and Screen Studies. Qualifications: Must have previous filming and editing experience.
