Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Bates Center for Purposeful Work invites applications for a Purposeful Work Summer Internship Fellow. This paid position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Center’s professional staff, to provide exemplary support for Bates students in the internship exploration process. This position will be an excellent opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the center’s internship and career resources, develop communication skills to small and large audiences, and gain practical experience that they can use in their future professional endeavors and/or graduate school pursuits. Must maintain strict confidentiality of student, alumni, and employer information
Students should be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. They should anticipate starting in late spring 2023.

***The cover letter must include days and times between 9 am – 4:30 pm on weekdays between March 27 – March 31 when you are available for an interview. Please also include names of 1- 2 Bates faculty or staff members as references.***

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


-Educate and provide guidance and advise peers on ways to maximize their internships -Provide peer to peer feedback, guidance, and mentorship with PW interns within their reflections ,cohorts and support on presentation and end of internship reflections -Meet regularly with PW staff to provide updates and check-ins -Assist in developing and implementing equitable marketing strategies for PW internship events; provide advice on student trends (especially regarding technology) and publicity methods to reach target audiences -Provide support on presentation and end of internship reflections -Research recent graduates current positions for post-graduation outcomes project -Post and approve job and internship positions in Handshake -Collaborate with the center’s staff to promote PW internship reflections and events -Provide advice to the center’s staff on strategic ways to engage students, faculty, and staff in the promotion of PW internship opportunities and resources -Participate in our continuing equity and inclusion audit and provide feedback and support to the center’s staff for projects as needed, including to assist with the development of databases, reflective summer programs, and operational policies and procedures -Provide logistical support for PW internship program throughout the summer -Represent the center at PW internship information sessions as needed -Must maintain strict confidentiality of student and employer information -Additional work may include long-term projects, workshop presentations, and assistance with special events. -Students graduating May 2023- May 2024 are eligible to apply. ---We are looking for someone who is interested in professional development and growth within the role and the team.

-Class of 2024 and 2025 are eligible to apply -We are looking for someone who is interested in professional development and growth within the role and the team -Reliability, maturity, attention to detail, and professionalism -Proven track record of leadership, strong time management, and organizational skills -Marketing experience with modes such as: Instagram, video experience is a plus -Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, including strong editing, grammatical and presentation skills -Ability to work effectively with and promote Bates Center for Purposeful Work to a diverse range of students -Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment -Wide-ranging educational experience and professional skills -Experience with work that involves customer service or interacting with the public -Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Excel, Internet, social media, etc.; ability to learn new technologies and databases quickly; preferably experienced with Handshake -Previous experience with Purposeful Work programs
