Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Archives and Special Collections Assistant will assist in the day to day operations of the Edmund S. Muskie Archives and Special Collections Library and provide administrative support to its staff.

This student must pay attention to detail, have strong organizational skills, and be able to multi-task.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Photocopying
  • Data entry
  • Filing papers
  • Labeling boxes and folders
  • Assisting with patron requests
  • Retrieving and re-shelving material

Environment: Indoors Physical requirements: The Assistant will need to climb a stepladder and lift boxes of records and other moderately heavy objects up to 30lbs. Machines and equipment used: Computer and photocopier

Reporting


Reports to: Director of Archives and Special Collections Coordinates/works closely with: Other archives staff members and researchers.
