AESOP trips encourage authenticity, connection
The Class of 2030, the third largest in Bates history, gathered to kick off AESOP on Friday, Aug. 28 — the day after move-in day.
The Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI) is committed to the ongoing work of fostering a Bates community where everyone can thrive. In collaboration with our partners all across campus, we offer professional learning opportunities to employees and students as we aim to identify and mitigate barriers to access and to increase a sense of belonging.
The Bates Open Network on Dialogue (BOND) – started in 2025 – is a semesterly dialogue program that aims to create spaces that (1) bring together students, faculty, staff, and local community members to engage with a variety of relevant topics, and (2) offer opportunities for participants to practice the skills fundamental to holding effective dialogue across difference.
As we work to expand the BOND program, our BOND Student Dialogue Fellows will serve as an integral part of this initiative by designing, developing, and facilitating new student-focused dialogue programming in collaboration with the OEI team. Fellows may also be required to assist with other duties as assigned, including (but not limited to): social media communications, creating promotional materials for office-sponsored events, and serving as a community liaison between the OEI and the Bates student body.
