6/10: Bates’s History and Commitments to Equity and Inclusion
Tuesday, June 10, 2025
Hello students in the Class of 2029 and new transfer students,
The Bates mission statement speaks of the college’s aim to foster learning and create a community where “we engage the transformative power of our differences.” We encourage all community members to consider how they come to Bates with a range of distinct experiences and to evaluate how those experiences influence their perspectives.
Today, you have access to a new section of your Summer Resources Lyceum Page, which focuses on Bates’s History and Mission. You can access Lyceum by going to the Quad and clicking on the button labeled “Lyceum.” You can access the section directly by going here.
We look forward to working with you throughout the summer and to meeting you at Arrival Day on August 28! For more information on the New Student On-Campus Orientation schedule, please go here.
