BIO: Greenhouse Worker (S9642B)

Summary

This position is for a greenhouse worker, when Bates College is on breaks or during the summer. This position includes general care of all the plants the greenhouse. Weekends and weekdays are needed to cover some shifts. Weekend shifts work on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:
watering plants, repotting, fertilizing, dead heading, checking for bugs, loading and stocking supplies.
Other duties include sweeping, cleaning out pond area, general housekeeping and dishes.
General maintenance of greenhouse and to check daily for temperature and water concerns are included in these duties

Requirements

No plant experience required but would helpful. A great attitude and ability to work independently are a must.

All greenhouse workers report to Mark Lessard

Working Conditions

The temperature of the greenhouse is quite comfortable most of the time. There will be times when the temperature is higher than usual (during the warmer months of the year). Student workers are required to lift 50 lbs and perform some light physical duties.
