Student Employment Office

The Harward Center Team (Darby Ray and Morgan Kinney) and Professor Laurie Baker (Math/Stats) are seeking 1–2 creative, organized students to help design the Community-Engaged Data Hub, a new WordPress page accessed from the Harward Center that will showcase data-driven projects connecting Bates students, faculty, and community partners. The site will highlight examples, tools, and stories from community-engaged data-related courses.

The Harward Center for Community Partnerships is looking for a student who will support the marketing and promotion of community-engaged learning and volunteer opportunities.  

The America Reads/Counts Tutor helps children in elementary schools with literacy and/or math and science. With the support of classroom teachers, they tutor children who need extra help in the subject matter. They work with children one-on-one or in small groups. Tutors must be self-motivated, work well independently and enjoy working with children.

The Communications and Outreach Assistant will support the Harward Center’s work to increase student engagement in Center programs. One focus of the Assistant’s job will be Community Pulse, the college’s volunteer platform.  The assistant will help ensure that students and campus partners are fully aware of the platform by doing weekly promotional campaigns throughout campus. This individual will also gather student and campus partner feedback about the platform, and communicate recurring questions, challenges, and concerns to Harward Center Staff.  

  The Harward Center Student Project Coordinator will be largely responsible for managing several projects at one time and therefore must have the ability to multi-task and work independently without ongoing supervision. He or she must also be a self-starter.
