The Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI) is committed to the ongoing work of fostering a Bates community where everyone can thrive. In collaboration with our partners all across campus, we offer professional learning opportunities to employees and students as we aim to identify and mitigate barriers to access and to increase a sense of belonging. The Bates Open Network on Dialogue (BOND) – started in 2025 – is a semesterly dialogue program that aims to create spaces that (1) bring together students, faculty, staff, and local community members to engage with a variety of relevant topics, and (2) offer opportunities for participants to practice the skills fundamental to holding effective dialogue across difference.
