The Sports Information Assistant supports the Athletic Communications team in statistical work, game day management, and PA announcing. This position is great for students looking to gain sport management or announcing experience.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


Ability to effectively monitor and communicate to student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Ability to learn rules of various sports and apply knowledge. Punctuality, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines; Good oral and written communication skills. Indoor and outdoor work required. Ability to lift 30 pounds. Flexible schedule; hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, breaks, holidays and summer (if available). Assist with set-up/break down/changeover of athletic contests. Uphold the mission and values and be an active representative of the Department of Athletics. Maintain a strong knowledge of and enforce all guidelines and procedures. All other duties assigned as by the supervisor and other Athletics staff

Requirements


The Sports Information Assistants must have a longstanding interest in sports that has allowed them to develop knowledge about various sports. The Sports Information Assistants must have a familiarity with a variety of sports and basic knowledge of sports statistics
. Prior experience of working at a school newspaper and participation or any other relevant experience to the field of sports information is ideal.

Reporting


Reports to Assistant Athletic Director-Athletic Communication and Associate Athletic Communications Director.

Working Conditions


Work environment can be warm and noisy at times. Also may be required to work outdoors in cold or warm temperatures and weather.
